THE JAPANESE HOUSE TEETH

We're comfortable saying it - The Japanese House is our favourite new artist of the year so far. There. Following the spooked, late-night tales 'Still' and 'Pools To Bathe In', producer Amber Bain has offered up another composition, packed with even more delicately unfurling guitar curlicues and spiralling vocal loops. The 19-year-old Londoner, whose work is buoyed by additional production from The 1975's George Daniel and Matt Healy, has created a trio of tracks skewered loosely by an alt-pop sensibility, but the influences at work here transcend genre parameters wholly with wonky RnB, commercial radio pop-rock and sleek US nu-soul coming together in perfect, pitch-shifted harmony. The Pools To Bathe In EP is out later this month on Dirty Hit. DC
